Automating screenshot cropping and conversion for iPhone app store submission
Monday, March 2nd, 2009If you develop applications for the iPhone, one of many tedious aspects of submitting to the app store is making the application screenshots for upload.
You have to:
- Take snapshots on the phone
- Grab them with iPhoto
- Crop the status bar on each image
- Convert from PNG to JPEG for each image
This is especially soul destroying as you have to do it every time the application changes.
Well, the good news is that Gregory Furmanek has put together a nice little ruby script that automates the last two steps for you using RMagick, and makes web thumbnails while it’s at it.
Sweet.
